Emerson Fittipaldi (BRA) McLaren explains his decision to withdraw from the GP meeting during practice due to the slapdash construction of the barriers around the circuit. Tragically his fears would be realised when five spectators were killed in an accident during the race.

Vittorio Brambilla (ITA) March 751 took his and the works March team's first victory in a rain-shortened race where only half points were awarded. Brambilla was so excited by his only GP victory that he crashed on his victory lap!
