James Hunt (GBR) Hesketh 308B, who retired on lap 16 with a transmission problem, leads Jean-Pierre Jarier (FRA) Shadow DN5, who spun off on lap 14. In the background Tony Brise (GBR) Embassy Hill Racing GH1 spins off onto the grass, but he recovered before retiring on lap 18 with a blown engine.
