The aftermath of the fatal accident suffered in pre-racing testing the week before the GP by Peter Revson (USA) in his Shadow DN3. The car suffered a suspension failure and Revson was killed instantly when he went through the crash barrier.

The Lotus team, with Colin Chapman (GBR) Lotus Team Owner at the far end, hold a meeting at the Kyalami Ranch Hotel. The debut of the new Lotus 76 was not as successful as was hoped, with the cars qualifying poorly and then crashing into each other on the first lap.

(L to R): Legend has it that Bernie Ecclestone (GBR) Brabham Team Owner and John Goossens (BEL) Texaco Chief played cards to decide whether a set of Texaco stickers be placed on the Brabham's. Ecclestone lost, the stickers went on the cars and Carlos Reutemann (ARG) went on to win the first race for Brabham under Bernie's ownership.
