Nelson Piquet, Brabham BT53 BMW, is spun sideways at the start, by the Lotus 95T Renault of Nigel Mansell. The second Lotus of Elio de Angelis, avoids the inciden, but Michele Alboreto, Ferrari 126C4, makes contact with the Brabham.
