Sensation Jody Scheckter (RSA) McLaren, in only his third GP, leads the race from Emerson Fittipaldi (BRA) Lotus 72D and his team mate Ronnie Peterson (SWE) Lotus 72D, who took his maiden GP victory when the leading pair collided on lap 42.
