Fourth place finisher James Hunt (GBR) McLaren M26 takes the lead at the start of the race after qualifying in second position. Pole sitter Mario Andretti (USA) Lotus 78 (Centre) made a poor start but would recover to eventually win the race from the unfortunate John Watson (GBR) Brabham BT45B (Right), who ran out of fuel on the final lap whilst leading.
