Riccardo Patrese (ITA) Shadow DN8 made an impressive GP debut, qualifying in fifteenth position and finishing the race in ninth position despite a damaged front wing and ahead of the vastly experienced Jacky Ickx (BEL) Ensign N177, who finished tenth in his only GP of the season.
