Jean-Pierre Jabouille (FRA) (Left) talks with a Renault mechanic beside the Gordini turbocharged engine in the Renault RS01. It was the debut appearance in F1 for Renault, a turbocharged engine (a 1.5 litre V6) and for tyre manufacturer Michelin. Jabouille qualified twenty-fourth and retired on lap seventeen with a blown turbo.
