The provisional podium (L to R): James Hunt (GBR) McLaren, winner; Niki Lauda (AUT) Ferrari, second; Jody Scheckter (RSA) Tyrrell, third. The presentation took place at 5:46pm after protests over Hunt's victory were originally rejected. However, Hunt was disqualified on appeal in September for allegedly not running when the race was stopped on the opening lap: promoting Scheckter to second place and Lauda became the winner.
