James Hunt (GBR) McLaren (Black helmet) walks from the scene with team mate Bruno Giacomelli (ITA) McLaren. Vittorio Brambilla (ITA) (Right) lies - head slumped -in his Surtees TS20 after suffering a serious head injury from which he fully recovered. Tragically, Peterson would die from a blood clot following an operation in hospital on his badly broken legs.
